Thief Motif continue to deliver infectious upbeat indie pop anthems. Their recent Speed Trap has a swift island inspired tempo design to compliment the melodic vocal arrangement. They adapt an influence of Vampire Weekend, injecting harmonies that add to the melodic drama. The contrast of the energetic furious drum part and the elegant harmonies is exhilarating.
The fury relents in a half time groove that showcases how their jams might adapt live. Featuring a rare savory organ solo, the vocalist reaches for the highest notes in his range. Dare we say we hear a dose of Greta Van Fleet in that inspired moment. We can dig it.
