Demons

I won’t relive footsteps gone cold 

I found relief after walking on coals

Pain became truth and calluses grow. 

I killed my darlings & I burned their ghosts.

They will never let me go

They just take another form

I won’t bury those friends any more

Beautiful demons never let me go

Re-wrote my genesis chapter and verse

Skin-shed my lessons serpentine curse

Nothing’s forbidden fruit off the vine

All is forgiven Eden is mine

Now I see what we used to be. 

Hands around my throat                   

Heaven rested beyond my death 

Strangled me reborn

Unclasp your hands take my commands 

Give me a  standing O

Now I’m closer to my own light. 

But you can come along
